Job Description


A north Dublin healthcare facility is seeking a Senior Dietician . Key to this to role is a high degree of experience and professional competency combined with sound clinical and academic ability in the provision of care to patients who are undergoing rehabilitation within the multidisciplinary setting. Good organisational skills and a strong interest in developing his/her management skills will be required for this post.

Required Qualifications:
" Have a BSc. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from TCD and DIT Kevin St or s a qualification in Dietetics at least equivalent to the above
" Candidates with qualifications from outside of the Republic of Ireland, must provide evidence that qualifications have been validated by the Dept of Health & Children (applications closed Oct 2014) to be registered with CORU
" Have at least 3 years post qualification experience in a relevant clinical setting
" Must have up to date knowledge and experience in Care of the Older Person; Orthopaedics; Nutrition Support and Diabetes in the acute hospital or rehabilitation setting.


Hours : Normal working hours are 37 hours worked over a 5 day spread


Professional/Clinical Duties:

" Carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the post and ensure that a high standard of clinical nutrition care is provided to all patients.

" Day to Day responsibility for the clinical nutrition service including co-ordinating the workload and daily management of the service.

" Be responsible for client assessment, development and implementation of individualised nutrition treatment plans that are client centred and in line with best practice.

" Be responsible for goal setting in partnership with clients, their families and other team members as appropriate.

" Be responsible for developing resources for clients, ward staff, catering staff and families in line with the clinical needs of the service.

" Communicate and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the best clinical outcomes for the patients. This includes participation in review meetings, case conferences, ward rounds as appropriate.

" Develop effective communication with and provide instruction, guidance and support to all service users, their families, carers etc.

Sample Organisational Duties


" Ensure all documentation with regards to patient care is in accordance with the INDI and CORU professional standards and departmental policies.

" Ensure all policies and procedures identified by the hospital as being relevant to the post have been read, acknowledged, implemented and adhered to. Ensure participation of all mandatory training programmes.

" Work within own scope of professional competence in line with principles of best practice, professional conduct and clinical governance. Seek advice of relevant personnel when required/as required.
